Make this delicious easy baked brie recipe with jam if you need a quick yet elegant appetizer for your next party. Using just 2-3 ingredients. and ready in under 15 minutes, it’s perfect on its own or as an accompaniment to charcuterie boards. It would be lovely with my Christmas charcuterie board, and pairs splendidly with my homemade cranberry jam or raspberry jam recipes. You can’t go wrong with this easy holiday appetizer.
By now, many of us have become experts at creating a standard cheese board. They’re a simple but beautiful way to serve guests yummy treats. The only thing I don’t love about them though, is they can get picked over and look sad by the end of the night. So I love the idea of just putting out a couple of fun appetizers and focusing on those. In addition to this easy brie appetizer, serve a platter of loaded hummus, and you’re casual gathering is set!

Why this easy dish works
- Quick and simple, requiring just 2 ingredients, or 3 if you want to add nuts
- Delicious and comforting, making it especially perfect for the cold Fall and Winter months
- Highly customizable, the creamy brie cheese pairs well with a multitude of sweet jam or briny flavors.
- Looks beautiful and appetizing! Taste is always priority number 1, but if a dish looks pretty too, it’s a wonderful bonus.
2 simple ingredients
- A wheel of brie cheese will work best, but you can also use a large wedge. Keep in mind that a wedge will not have the rind to hold its form, so it will typically require less cook time.
- Favorite jam of choice. Raspberry preserves, sweet fig jam, apricot jam or a strawberry jalapeno jam are some of my favorites. You can also use fresh cranberry sauce!
- Optional third ingredients to top on the melted warm brie are different nuts like walnuts, pecans, or crunchy almonds.
Easy how-to
Remove the brie wheel from it’s wrapper and place on a parchment lined prepared baking sheet or a small cast iron skillet. Do not remove the brie rind. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.
Bake time will depend on the ripeness of your cheese, so keep an eye on it and check on it by piercing the side of it with a small paring knife. Brie that is at peak ripeness will already be oozy on its own, so you don’t want to over-bake it. Unless purchasing from a fancy cheese counter, you are likely to get a wheel that may be under ripe. This will make the brie more firm, requiring more baking time. It will still taste delicious though, so don’t worry if you buy a standard wheel from your local grocery store.
As seen in these photos, I usually bake mine closer to 15 minutes because I don’t want it too runny when placing on my cheese board.
If using a wedge of brie, it will require just a few minutes of bake time; about 5-8 minutes.
Once the brie is done baking, remove from the sheet pan and place on your serving platter. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes, then top with jam. I used a jar of my cranberry rosemary freezer jam and it was perfect!
Sprinkle crunchy walnuts on top, or herbs like fresh rosemary, which pairs well with cranberry, or basil which is perfect with strawberry jam. Adding a sugared cranberry garnish is also a great idea!
Serve this perfect appetizer with your favorite crackers, baguette slices or slices of crisp apple.
Recipe FAQ’s
If you plan to serve the brie on a plate by itself, you can bake it till it gets real melty and oozy, and it won’t make a mess. But if planning to serve on a charcuterie board next to other foods, bake it till just soft and warm. Slice into it or score the top of the rind with a sharp knife and peel back it back, placing the jam right on top of the cheese. Guests can the scoop out the warm cheese from the center.
If you want to make brie en croute, simply roll out the puff pastry sheet or crescent rolls and place the brie in the center. Spoon jam on top, then fold over sides of puff pastry to create a pouch. Brush top of the wrapped brie with egg wash, and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes, till pastry crust is golden brown.
Other recipe variations
The best part about this is easy recipe is how easily customizable it is! Here are a few more sweet flavor and ingredient combinations you can try. The recipe works with a multitude of flavors because it’s really all about combining the salty creamy cheese with the sweetness of the jam or other sweet flavors.
- Instead of jam, drizzle the top of the brie with honey or maple syrup, fresh herbs and orange zest.
- Mix salty and sweet by drizzling the warm baked brie with olive oil, fresh fruit and fresh cracked pepper.
I hope you love this easy appetizer idea, as it really is such a perfect dish for the busy holiday season! Please let me know if you give it a try.
